The United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Fire Foundation (UFLACFF) Grant and Scholarship Program provides educational assistance to fire service members and their immediate families.A commitment to service for others is what every firefighter brings into the firehouse during every shift. For our sisters who are mothers as well, it's a feeling that extends beyond the duties they fulfill on the job because the firefighter family is an extension of the one they have at home. Today and everyday, we want to wish our mothers a Happy Mother's Day. Remember, children tend to grow up with many heroes in their lives, but their first hero is their mother. #happymothersday ... Speaking of Firefighters that are women, moms, etc....Did you all hear the latest? The City has denied the religious exemption of an LAFD member who also serves as one of the fire department chaplains. You want to know the best part? The exemption was denied based on the "chaplain's opposition to the vaccine containing fetus stem cells." BUT - The chaplain made no mention of fetus stem cells in his exemption letter. So, the city is not even reading the exemption letters, assuming why people sent them and basing the denial off of their assumptions? The fire department chaplain now has 5 days to appeal the denial to Chief Crowley. So far, many of the LAFD firefighters have already emailed her months ago regarding the mandates with no response from her. If you haven't already - please email her. [email protected]

URGENT We need your help and support Theme: Solidarity Press Conference in Support of National Day without Child Care. Focused on CCPU’s fight for Retirement, Health Care and Paid Time Off Time: 6:30-7 am (ask participants to arrive by 6:15 am) Location: Governor’s Office @ the Ronald Reagan Building 300 S. Spring St. LA 90013 Parking: Parking Lot on corner of Spring and 3rd or parking lot on Main st. between 3rd & 4th On Monday, May 9th, child care providers and parents are joining together with allies across local communities in California to call attention to the critical role child care plays in the lives of families and our economies. Childcare providers and families from across the country have been fighting for generations for equitable access to affordable child care and better pay and working conditions for providers. Our Demands for the 5/9 Day Without Child Care in California Action: Keep providers' doors open for families! Stabilize providers by funding health care & retirement that addresses providers' needs. By ensuring that dedicated providers have the same basic benefits and protections as other essential workers, current providers will be able to keep their doors open, new providers will be enticed to join the profession, and working parents will have more options for quality, affordable care. Keep child care affordable for working families! Waive family fees and reimburse providers in full. Waiving family fees keeps $50M or more in the pockets of working families to afford basics. Continue to increase provider pay and add funding to serve more eligible families. We join with allies across the country in this National Day of Action to demand more funding from our elected officials to address families & providers' needs. We will be calling on California's leaders to fund a more equitable child care system in this year's budget
